Youth Agro-Green Project – Profitable Farming, Powered by Young People Target: 700,000 FCFA (~$1,150) Goal: Launch a small-scale vegetable farm (tomatoes, okra, green spices) operated by trained local youth in Mile 16

Agriculture remains one of the most profitable and scalable sectors in Cameroon, but most young people are discouraged due to lack of startup capital, training, and support.Meanwhile, the demand for fresh vegetables like tomatoes, huckleberry, celery, green spices, and okra is high in Buea and surrounding towns — especially from households, restaurants, and market vendors. We want to bridge that gap by launching a small but well-managed youth-led farming project that grows fast-moving crops on a short cycle with quick returns. Why This Project Makes Business Sense?Short-cycle crops like tomatoes and green spices mature within 6–10 weeks.Low-cost, high-demand: These items sell fast in the local markets and to vendors.Workforce available: Trained and motivated youth will be in charge of day-to-day operations.Expandability: Profits from the first cycle can be reinvested into more land or additional crops. How the Funds Will Be Used?Land rental (1–2 plots for 6 months): 120,000 FCFA.Tools and equipment: hoes, watering cans, cutlasses: 80,000 FCFA.Seeds and organic fertilizers: 100,000 FCFA.Water source and irrigation setup: 150,000 FCFA.Youth labor & small stipends for farm management: 150,000 FCFA.Packaging, marketing & transport: 100,000 FCFA.Expected Returns1st harvest (8–10 weeks): Sale of tomatoes, okra, celery & spices can bring in 300,000–400,000 FCFA.2nd cycle (within 3–4 months): Revenues can rise to 500,000+ FCFA with experience and better yield.Monthly market supply contracts possible after consistency is establishedInitial capital can be recovered within 4–6 months, after which profit-sharing or reinvestment begins.Social Impact;Creates hands-on jobs for 3–5 local youths.Reduces reliance on imported food.Promotes sustainable farming practices.Strengthens local food systems in Mile 16 and beyond.
